Amazon PPC Audit Tool

Ten numbers you already have in your campaign reports โ€” spend, ad sales, clicks, orders, margin โ€” and this tool computes the audit's first read: your ACOS against your break-even, the wasted-spend line, your personal negation threshold, and whether your constraint is bids or the listing. Every threshold is derived from your economics, not industry folklore. Nothing is uploaded, stored or emailed back to us.

  • Amazon Ads Certified team behind it
  • Full results on screen โ€” no email gate
  • Every threshold computed from your numbers
  • 48-hour human audit reads the reports it can't

Run the Audit's First Read Yourself

Two ways in. By the numbers if you have ten minutes and your campaign manager open; by checklistif you'd rather answer what you do and don't track. Both end in a verdict, a waste estimate and a fix order โ€” every threshold derived from your economics, not a benchmark someone else published.

$

Campaign manager, last 30 days, all sponsored campaigns.

$

Attributed sales for the same window.

clicks

Same 30-day window.

orders

Attributed orders, same window again.

$

Your main advertised product, after promotions.

%

After COGS, Amazon fees and shipping, before ad cost. This is your break-even ACOS.

$

Search term report: filter orders = 0, sum the cost column.

$

Business reports, same month โ€” unlocks TACoS.

%

* required โ€” the other four sharpen the verdict.

Monthly ads profit vs your break-even

โˆ’$512 / month

  • Your ACOS38.1%
  • Break-even ACOS (your margin)32%
  • Cost per click$1.23
  • Conversion rate12.3%
  • Clicks per order8.1

Ads are losing $512 a month at this margin. ACOS of 38.1% sits above your 32% break-even โ€” every ad sale costs more than it earns. The fix order below prices where the leak is.

Zero-order spend, annualised

โ€”

Enter your zero-order spend (search term report: orders = 0, sum cost) to expose the single biggest recoverable line in most accounts.

Your negation threshold

13 clicks

Your account converts one order per 8.1 clicks, so a search term past 13 clicks with zero orders is a waste candidate. A fixed "negate after ten" rule would wait far too long on this account.

CVR floor at your CPC

12% needed

Your 12.3% conversion sits right on the break-even floor โ€” thin room. Watch both bids and unit session percentage before moving either.

Your fix order

  1. Close the $512/month gap at the listing first. Conversion sits at or below the break-even floor โ€” business reports (unit session %), price and Featured Offer before any bid moves.
  2. Then the report-level read.Search-term decay, negative conflicts, placement splits and listing readiness need the raw reports โ€” that's the 48-hour audit below.

Directional, computed from the numbers you entered. Search-term-level decay, placement splits, negative conflicts and listing readiness live in the raw reports โ€” that's the human audit's job.

This tool reads the top line. The audit reads the reports.

What ten numbers can't show: search-term decay week by week, placement splits, negative conflicts in both directions, budget pacing per campaign, branded replacing organic, and whether the listing itself is the constraint. Our team reads those in your actual reports and hands back a findings book and a fix order.

Six verdicts, not one score

What the Tool Actually Computes for You

A single health score hides more than it tells. The tool returns six separate verdicts, because each one points at a different report and a different kind of fix.

  • ACOS against your break-even. Your break-even is your pre-ad margin, full stop โ€” a campaign past it loses money on every ad sale no matter how good it looks next to an industry average.
  • Monthly ads profit or loss in dollars. The verdict the campaign view never shows: margin earned on ad sales minus the spend that bought them.
  • Zero-order spend, annualised. What search terms with clicks and no orders will cost you over twelve months if nothing changes.
  • Your personal negation threshold.Clicks per order from your own data, with slack โ€” so you negate real waste, not tomorrow's converters.
  • The CVR floor at your CPC. The conversion rate your clicks must sustain to break even โ€” the number that decides whether you have a bids problem or a listing problem.
  • TACoS, branded and pacing flags. When you enter the optional numbers, the tool widens the read: ads versus the whole store, brand-term dependence, and winners going dark.
!

Your numbers, not benchmarks โ€” why every threshold here is derived

"Negate any search term after ten clicks without a sale" is the most repeated rule in PPC content, and it is wrong in both directions. Take two sellers. One converts at 5% โ€” one order per twenty clicks; negating at ten kills terms that were about to work. The other converts at 20% โ€” one order per five clicks; waiting for ten clicks doubles the waste on every dead term. The first seller's honest threshold is about thirty clicks, the second's is eight. Same rule, opposite errors, and no industry benchmark can tell you which seller you are. Your clicks-per-order can โ€” which is why the tool derives the threshold from it instead of reciting folklore. The same logic kills "a good ACOS is around 30%": a 30% ACOS is profit at a 35% margin and a bonfire at 25%.

Reading symptoms like an auditor

The Symptom Translator: Five Patterns That Fool Sellers

Most expensive PPC mistakes are right fixes applied to the wrong diagnosis. These are the five symptom patterns an auditor checks first โ€” and the report that confirms each one before a single bid moves.

The symptom you seeThe likely causeThe report that confirms it
ACOS rising while total sales stay flatPaid traffic is replacing organic orders โ€” usually on your own brand termsBusiness reports vs campaign sales, split branded vs non-branded
Clicks keep coming, orders don'tThe listing or the price is the constraint, not the bidsBusiness reports (unit session %) + Featured Offer share
Sudden ACOS spike on a stable campaignYou lost the Featured Offer, or a price moved โ€” ads just noticed firstFeatured Offer history + detail page price changes
Budget gone by early afternoonCapped winners: you're losing revenue, and reading it as efficiencyBudget report โ€” when each campaign stopped serving
Ads "work" but rank and organic share never moveSpend concentrated on terms that can't build organic floorSearch Query Performance, keyword by keyword

The discipline matters more than the table: no recommendation until the confirming report says the same thing the symptom does. That is the difference between an audit and a hunch with a spreadsheet.

The honest division of labour

What a Tool Can Audit, and What Only a Person Can

We sell the human audit, and we built the tool anyway โ€” because pretending either one does the other's job is how sellers get burned twice: once by software that can't read a listing, then by a "free audit" that's a sales call in a trench coat.

The tool's ground (instant, tireless)

  • Arithmetic that never gets bored: ACOS against break-even, CPC, CVR, clicks per order, the CVR floor at your click price.
  • Thresholds sized to your account โ€” your negation line, your floor โ€” recomputed the moment your numbers move.
  • A monthly pulse-check you can rerun in ten minutes, before the full audit cycle comes due.

The auditor's ground (judgement)

  • Decay at the search-term level โ€” terms that converted in spring and quietly spend now, which no top-line number reveals.
  • Conflicts in both directions: dead terms still spending, and old negatives now strangling terms that started working.
  • The read that's partly outside the ad console: listing conversion, Featured Offer, organic floor โ€” the causes that wear a PPC costume.

After the tool, three honest paths

Do it yourself, properly

Take the fix order the tool printed and work it with our ten-point audit checklist โ€” the full by-hand version, with the cadence calendar.

Get the human read

The 48-hour audit: our team in your reports, read-only, handing back a findings book with dollars on every line and a fix order you'll recognize from this page.

Hand it over

If the audit's answer is "structure, rebuilt and run daily", that's managed PPC โ€” the engagement every one of our accounts starts with anyway.

i

The fit honesty, stated once:an audit needs data to read. Under ninety days of sales history, most "findings" are noise wearing a suit โ€” the tool still teaches you which numbers to start collecting, and the human audit will tell you to come back at day ninety if that's the truth. And if the tool's verdict is "healthy", believe it before you let anyone โ€” including us โ€” sell you a rescue.

Verify, don't souvenir

The Five Numbers That Prove an Audit Worked

An audit you can't re-check in a month is a souvenir. Whether you fix things yourself or we do it with you, these are the five numbers to re-read thirty days after the fixes land โ€” they can't all flatter you at once.

  1. Zero-order spend share. The waste line itself โ€” it should fall and stay fallen, because negations without maintenance creep back.
  2. TACoS. Ad spend against totalstore sales. ACOS can improve while the store quietly pays for the same traffic twice; TACoS can't hide that.
  3. Non-branded ACOS.Strip brand defense out, then judge. Blended ACOS flatters accounts whose "performance" is people who were already searching for them.
  4. Time in budget. Winners should be serving through the day, not dark by lunch โ€” capped budgets are revenue you chose not to earn.
  5. Organic share of sales. The slowest and truest one: as waste comes out and winners scale, organic should climb, not just paid.

Cadence that keeps it true: a five-minute weekly spend-and-negatives check, a monthly full audit โ€” the tool above covers the first read of it โ€” and a quarterly structural review of campaign architecture.

Who built this

The Tool Is the First Page of Our Audit Playbook

Nothing here is theory. The six verdicts and ten checks above are the opening pages of the audit every GrowithAmazon PPC engagement starts with โ€” the same read we've run across the accounts we manage.

  • Amazon Ads Certified
  • 35,000+ ASINs managed
  • 20% average ACOS maintained across managed accounts
  • 4x average ROAS on managed spend
  • Every Amazon marketplace
  • Audit-first: every engagement starts with the read

Those portfolio numbers are ours and we publish them on our advertising management page โ€” the same place the "free PPC audit" promise has lived all along. This tool is that promise made self-serve. DSP campaigns run under a different discipline; if that's your spend, the DSP team reads it separately.

Amazon PPC Audit: The Questions We Get Asked

Ten questions, grouped by whether they're about the tool or about the human audit behind it.

What numbers do I need before the tool tells me anything useful?
Six, all inside Seller Central and the ad console: monthly ad spend and attributed ad sales (campaign manager), ad clicks and ad orders (same window), and your main product's selling price plus its pre-ad profit margin โ€” what's left after COGS, Amazon fees and shipping, before advertising. Four optional numbers sharpen the read: spend on zero-order search terms (search term report, filter orders to zero and sum cost), total store revenue (business reports, for TACoS), your branded spend share, and whether winning campaigns exhaust their budgets (budget report).
Do you see or keep the numbers I type in?
No. Everything computes inside your browser โ€” nothing you enter is transmitted, logged or tied to you, and a page refresh erases it. Sending us actual reports is a separate, deliberate step that only happens if you later request the human audit.
Is the tool's verdict a real PPC audit?
It's the audit's first read, honestly labeled. Ten top-line numbers can price the waste line, find your break-even, size your negation threshold and flag whether the constraint is bids or the listing. They cannot show search-term decay over weeks, placement splits, negative-keyword conflicts or day-by-day pacing โ€” those live in the raw reports, and reading them is the human audit.
Why doesn't the tool compare me to industry benchmarks?
Because the popular ones mislead in both directions. "A good ACOS is around thirty percent" is profit at a 35% margin and a bonfire at 25%. "Negate after ten clicks" fires far too early for a product converting at five percent and far too late for one converting at twenty. Your break-even ACOS equals your pre-ad margin, and your negation threshold derives from your clicks per order โ€” so the tool computes both from your numbers and skips the folklore.
How often should I re-run it?
Monthly, about ten minutes, as the first read of a full audit โ€” alongside a five-minute weekly eyeball of spend and negatives, and a quarterly structural review of campaign architecture. Re-run it immediately after any big change: new launch, price move, or a budget restructure.
What does the 48-hour audit see that the tool can't?
The same playbook, run on raw reports instead of top-line numbers: search-term-level decay โ€” terms that converted last quarter and quietly spend now; placement performance and modifier drift; negative keywords checked in both directions, including old ones now blocking converters; structure and naming; per-campaign budget pacing; branded versus non-branded split in the actual data; and whether the listing and Featured Offer are the real constraint before any bid changes.
Is the 48-hour audit really free?
Yes โ€” the same promise we've published on our advertising management page for years. You get a findings book with dollars on every line and a walkthrough of the fix order. You can implement it yourself, hand it to your current agency, or ask us to. The audit wins by being worth acting on, not by holding your data hostage.
Do you need access to my Amazon account?
Read-only, and your choice of how: a viewer-level sub-user seat you can revoke any time, or the exported reports themselves. Never a shared password, and DSP spend is read separately under its own discipline if you run it.
Will an audit change anything in my campaigns?
No. The audit touches nothing โ€” no bid moves, no campaign edits, no budget changes. Every recommendation lands in the findings book first and gets implemented only after you approve it. An audit that edits your account before asking you isn't an audit; it's a takeover.
I'm new โ€” under ninety days of data. Should I still run it?
Run the tool, yes โ€” it teaches you which numbers to start collecting and keeps your habits honest from day one. But be skeptical of any deep "audit" of a thin account, ours included: under ninety days, conversion rates wobble weekly and most findings are noise wearing a suit. We'll tell you plainly to come back at day ninety if that's the truth of your data.
