Amazon Peak Season 2026 for Sellers: Confirmed Dates, Deadlines, Fees and a Week-by-Week Checklist
Amazon peak season 2026 looks different for sellers than it does for shoppers. Shoppers see deals. You see deadlines, and most of them land weeks before the deals do.
Here is where things stand today. Amazon confirmed Prime Big Deal Days for 6 and 7 October. Deal submissions for Black Friday Week close on 20 October. Higher peak fees start on 15 October. And Adobe expects US shoppers to spend a record $275.1 billion online this holiday season.
This guide gives you every date that matters, in order, with a label on each one: confirmed by Amazon, a fixed calendar date, or still to be published. You also get the fee attached to each date, a week-by-week plan from now to 14 January, and a five-question check to see if you are already behind. One warning before you start: the date most sellers plan around is not a real deadline at all. You will see why in section two.
TL;DR
- Prime Big Deal Days: 6–7 October 2026. Confirmed by Amazon on 15 September.
- Black Friday is 27 November and Cyber Monday is 30 November. Amazon's own event usually runs about 12 days around them.
- Deals for Black Friday Week must be submitted by 20 October. Stock must arrive by 14 October (AWD), 21 October (FBA, minimal splits) or 28 October (FBA, Amazon-optimized splits).
- Peak fulfillment fees run 15 October to 14 January, about $0.32 more per unit plus a 3.5% surcharge. Storage roughly triples from 1 October.
- Prime Big Deal Days is a stock-up event (average order $45, only 23% bought gifts). Black Friday and Cyber Monday are the gift event.
- Your season does not end on 25 December. Returns run to 31 January and peak fees run to 14 January.
When does Amazon peak season 2026 start for sellers?
There is no single answer, because Amazon peak season 2026 starts on three different dates depending on who you ask.
If you are reading this on 30 September, you are in the last week where every decision is still cheap. Stock you send today still lands before the first fee change. Listing edits you make today still have time to settle before shoppers arrive.
One more thing shifted the calendar this year. Prime Day ran 23–26 June, earlier than usual, which pulled Amazon's whole holiday timeline forward. That is why the Black Friday deal window closed for the early-bird discount as far back as 5 September.
Here is the full calendar, with a label on every date.
Which Amazon peak season 2026 dates are confirmed?
Most peak season calendars online are guesses dressed up as facts. Several still say Prime Big Deal Days is "expected" even though Amazon announced it two weeks ago. So every row below carries one of three labels.
| Date | What happens | Label | What you do |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 Oct | Monthly storage fee rises to $2.40 per cubic foot (standard size) for October to December | Amazon confirmed | Remove or clear slow stock before the October bill |
| 6–7 Oct | Prime Big Deal Days | Amazon confirmed | Coupons and Prime Exclusive Discounts live; no listing edits |
| 14 Oct | Black Friday Week stock arrival date for Amazon Warehousing and Distribution (AWD) | Amazon confirmed | AWD shipments must be received, not just shipped |
| 15 Oct | Holiday peak fulfillment fees begin (US and Canada) | Amazon confirmed | Reprice with the higher per-unit cost |
| 20 Oct | Last day to submit Best Deals, Lightning Deals and Prime Exclusive Discounts for Black Friday Week and Cyber Monday | Amazon confirmed | Submit and check the fee shown in your Deals dashboard |
| 21 Oct | FBA arrival date, shipments using minimal shipment splits | Amazon confirmed | Track every shipment to "received" |
| 28 Oct | FBA arrival date, shipments using Amazon-optimized splits | Amazon confirmed | Last safe arrival for event stock |
| 31 Oct | AWD off-peak storage pricing ends | Amazon confirmed | Move AWD stock to FBA before November |
| 26 Nov | Thanksgiving | Calendar date | First big spending day; check budgets in the morning |
| 27 Nov | Black Friday | Calendar date | Hourly stock and ad checks |
| 28 Nov | Small Business Saturday | Calendar date | Amazon usually features small brands; keep deals live |
| 30 Nov | Cyber Monday | Calendar date | Biggest single online day; pause campaigns over your limit |
| Early–mid Dec | Christmas delivery cutoff dates for standard, Prime and same-day shipping | Amazon publishes later | Watch Seller Central news; add delivery messaging |
| 25 Dec | Christmas Day | Calendar date | Gift-card spending starts the next morning |
| 26 Dec–early Jan | Gift-card redemption and the start of holiday returns | Calendar date | Keep stock of self-purchase items; review returns daily |
| 14 Jan 2027 | Holiday peak fulfillment fees end | Amazon confirmed | Delay clearance shipping that can wait |
| 31 Jan 2027 | Extended holiday returns window closes (last year's date; 2026 policy expected in October) | Amazon publishes later | Hold a returns reserve until February |
Notice the word arrival in the October rows. Amazon does not care when you ship. It cares when your boxes are checked in. A shipment that leaves your warehouse on 27 October and arrives on 3 November has missed the date, even though you "sent it in time".
You can follow official date changes through our Seller Central updates hub, and Amazon posts its own reminders in the Seller Forums news section.
Why do these peak season dates matter so much?
Because the money is not spread evenly across the quarter. It piles up in a few days, and those days are decided by what you did in October.
Adobe's forecast, published on 28 September 2026, expects Cyber Monday to stay the biggest single day at $15.1 billion. Black Friday is forecast at $12.9 billion but is growing faster, up 9.2%, because retailers now push their deepest discounts earlier. Thanksgiving Day alone is expected to reach $6.9 billion.
Last year's actual numbers back this up. Adobe measured $257.8 billion for the 2025 season, with $14.25 billion on Cyber Monday and $11.8 billion on Black Friday. At the busiest point on Cyber Monday, shoppers were spending about $16 million a minute. The National Retail Federation counted 202.9 million shoppers over the five-day Thanksgiving weekend, spending an average of $337.86 each.
"More than 60% of sales in Amazon's store during the event were from independent sellers."Amazon, Black Friday Week and Cyber Monday results, December 2024
One more shift to keep in mind this year. Amazon's shopping assistant, Alexa for Shopping (the former Rufus), now sits in the holiday search path for hundreds of millions of shoppers. It reads your listing the way a person would, so listing quality decides more than it did two years ago. Our guide on how Alexa for Shopping reads listings explains what it looks for.
Is Prime Big Deal Days a gift event or a stock-up event?
It is a stock-up event. The data is clear, and it should change what you discount next week.
Numerator tracked Prime Big Deal Days 2025 and found an average order of just $45.42. Around 44% of orders were $20 or less. The most-bought items were everyday basics: Dawn dish soap, Premier Protein shakes, Lysol wipes, Liquid I.V. and Squishmallows. Only 23% of shoppers said they bought a holiday gift.
What that means for you:
- Consumables, household items and low-ticket products do the work at Prime Big Deal Days. If you sell these, push coupons now.
- Gift items should save their deepest discount for Black Friday Week. A big October cut on a gift product mostly trains shoppers to wait.
- Subscribe & Save products can win a subscriber in October who then reorders through the whole quarter.
Discount for the stock-up shopper in October, the gift shopper in November
Prime Big Deal Days rewards products people buy for themselves and use up. Save your deepest cut for the event where people buy for others.
Push a PBDD offer if
- Your product is under about $25
- It is used up and reordered
- It is on Subscribe & Save
- You have deep stock and a thin holiday gift angle
Hold back if
- It is mainly bought as a gift
- Your Black Friday stock has not arrived yet
- A cut now would drain units you need in November
- The margin only works at full price
Good news if you worry about price history: Amazon said this year that prices used during Prime Big Deal Days do not count in the lookback that sets your lowest allowed Black Friday deal price. So a PBDD deal does not force an even lower November price.
What are the FBA deadlines for Black Friday 2026?
Amazon posted three arrival dates for Black Friday Week and Cyber Monday stock. Which one applies to you depends on how you send inventory.
Three things sellers get wrong here every year:
- Arrival is not shipping. The date is when Amazon receives the boxes. Add carrier time and receiving time on top of your own lead time.
- Missing the date is not fatal. Late stock still sells once it is checked in. What you lose is Amazon's promise that it will be Prime-ready and spread across the network for the event.
- There is no magic multiplier. Advice like "send double" is not from Amazon. Work from days of cover: how many days your current stock lasts at your expected holiday sales rate.
Work backwards from the arrival date
Here is a simple ladder. The week ranges are typical estimates, not Amazon figures. Swap in your own.
| Step | Typical time | For a 28 Oct arrival, start by |
|---|---|---|
| Amazon receiving after delivery | 3–10 days | Deliver by 18–25 Oct |
| Domestic carrier to Amazon | 3–7 days | Ship by 11–18 Oct |
| Ocean freight plus customs (if importing) | 4–6 weeks | Already too late for sea; air only |
| Air freight plus customs | 1–2 weeks | Book this week |
How much to send? Plan to clear Cyber Monday and the Christmas delivery cutoff, then check the number against your storage cost. Also remember the low-inventory-level fee is charged per product (per FNSKU) when you hold under about 28 days of supply, so a thin restock on a fast seller can cost you twice. Our Q4 profit margin guide shows what one stockout day costs in December.
What does each peak season date cost you in fees?
Every date on the calendar has a price tag. Here they are, side by side, so you can see the season as one bill rather than a series of surprises.
| Date | Fee change | Amount (US) | Applies to |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 Oct | Monthly storage rises | $0.78 → $2.40 per cu ft (standard); $0.56 → $1.40 (oversize) | All FBA stock, Oct–Dec |
| 15 Oct | Holiday peak fulfillment fee starts | Average +$0.32 per unit, plus 3.5% fuel and logistics surcharge on top; Canada average CAD $0.39 | Every unit that ships 15 Oct–14 Jan |
| By 20 Oct | Black Friday Week deal fees | $100 per deal plus 1.5% of deal sales, capped at $5,000 | Best Deals, Lightning Deals, Prime Exclusive Discounts |
| Any time | Coupon fee | $5 per coupon plus 2.5% of coupon sales | Coupons |
| 14 Jan 2027 | Peak fulfillment fee ends | Back to standard rate cards | Units shipping from 15 Jan |
"On average, the increase is $0.32 per unit; the 3.5% fuel and logistics surcharge is added on top."Amazon, holiday peak fulfillment fee announcement for 15 October 2026 to 14 January 2027 (paraphrased from the Seller Central notice)
Two details catch people out. First, the peak fee follows the ship date. An order placed on 14 October that ships on 15 October pays the higher rate. Second, the storage jump lands on stock you already hold, so October is the month to remove anything that will not sell before January.
Amazon's Revenue Calculator, Profit Analytics and the Fee and Economics Preview already show holiday rates, so you do not need to build the numbers by hand. For the full rate cards, see our 2026 fee breakdown. For a worked example of what one unit keeps in December, the Q4 profit margin guide linked above walks through it line by line.
Which Q4 promotion should you run, and when?
Five tools, five different jobs. Pick by product, not by habit.
| Promotion | Fee | Best for | Watch out |
|---|---|---|---|
| Coupon | $5 + 2.5% of coupon sales | Items under about $25; PBDD stock-up products | The 2.5% grows with volume; cap the budget |
| Prime Exclusive Discount | $100 + 1.5% | Strike-through price on search results without a deal slot | Prime members only; needs a strong star rating |
| Lightning Deal | $100 + 1.5% | Clearance or a launch that needs a burst | You must hold enough stock for the whole window |
| Best Deal | $100 + 1.5% | Your hero product across several days | Deepest price-history impact; use once |
| Plain price cut | No fee | Long-tail items you just want to move | No badge, so less visibility |
Timing is simple: Black Friday Week submissions close on 20 October. Before you submit, look at the fee shown on your own Deals dashboard. Some sellers reported seeing a per-day fee display this year, so confirm the number your account shows rather than trusting any blog, including this one.
If you sell multi-packs or bundles, a buy-one-get-one offer can move units without touching your list price. Our guide to Buy 1 Get 1 promotions covers the setup.
When should you start Black Friday ads?
Mid-October at the latest. Campaigns need two to three weeks of data before Cyber Week, and bids should go up before click prices climb, not during.
- By 15 October: launch or relaunch every campaign you want live in November. New campaigns started the week of Thanksgiving fight for placements with no history.
- Set a TACoS ceiling per product using December margin, not September margin. The peak fee comes out of the same pot as your ad spend.
- Pause, do not delete, during the event. Deleted campaigns lose history you will want for Prime Day next year.
Adobe's finding that Black Friday is now growing faster than Cyber Monday matters here. Weight your budget toward Thursday and Friday rather than saving it all for Monday. If you are unsure which number to use as your limit, our ACoS vs TACoS guide explains the difference in plain terms.
What should you do each week from now to 14 January?
Print this section. Each block is one week, with the dates that fall in it and the two or three things that actually matter. Orange means a deadline falls that week. Red means an event is live.
Week of 28 Sep Storage rises 1 Oct
- Create removal orders for anything that will not sell by January.
- Finish title, bullet and image edits. This is your last quiet week to change listings.
- Set coupons or Prime Exclusive Discounts for PBDD stock-up products.
Week of 5 Oct Prime Big Deal Days 6–7 Oct
- No listing edits during the event. Watch stock and Buy Box twice a day.
- Note which products sold. That tells you what shoppers stock up on, not what they gift.
- Book air freight for any Black Friday stock not yet in transit.
Week of 12 Oct AWD arrival 14 Oct · Peak fees start 15 Oct
- Reprice with the peak fee and surcharge included.
- Launch or relaunch all November ad campaigns.
- Write your December profit per unit for each hero product. Keep it visible.
Week of 19 Oct Deals close 20 Oct · FBA minimal splits arrive 21 Oct
- Submit Black Friday Week deals by 20 October. Screenshot the fee shown.
- Track every inbound shipment to "received", not "delivered".
- Decide your merchant-fulfilled backup for products that are running late.
Week of 26 Oct FBA optimized splits arrive 28 Oct · AWD off-peak storage ends 31 Oct
- Last safe arrival for event stock. Chase anything still in transit.
- Freeze listings. From here, only fix errors.
- If you use AWD, move stock into FBA before November storage rates apply.
Week of 2 Nov Extended returns period likely starts (confirm policy)
- Raise bids on your top keywords before competitors do.
- Take baseline screenshots: rank, price, star rating, ad spend. You will compare against these in December.
Week of 9 Nov
- Days-of-cover check for every product: will it last through Cyber Monday and the Christmas cutoff?
- Check deal status in the dashboard. Fix anything "needs attention" now.
Week of 16 Nov Amazon's Black Friday Week usually opens around now
- Set daily budgets for the event week. Decide who checks them and when.
- Turn on stock and Buy Box alerts. Name the person who acts on each one.
Week of 23 Nov Thanksgiving 26 Nov · Black Friday 27 Nov · Small Business Saturday 28 Nov
- Check budgets, stock and price every few hours. Nothing else.
- Do not touch listings. Do not launch new campaigns.
Week of 30 Nov Cyber Monday 30 Nov
- Biggest single day. Pause any campaign above its TACoS ceiling by noon.
- Tuesday: export the event report while it is fresh.
Week of 7 Dec Amazon usually publishes Christmas delivery cutoffs around now
- Add "arrives before Christmas" messaging to ads and A+ once cutoffs are official.
- Review returns from Black Friday orders. Fix any listing that is causing them.
Week of 14 Dec
- Last FBA restock decision. Stock sent now arrives at peak rates and may miss the cutoff.
- Prepare for gift-card week: which of your products are self-purchases?
Week of 21 Dec Christmas 25 Dec
- Once cutoffs pass, switch late-demand products to merchant fulfilment if you can ship faster.
- Lower bids on gift keywords; raise them on self-purchase keywords.
Week of 28 Dec Gift-card week · Returns start
- Keep stock of health, fitness and home-organisation items if you sell them.
- Review returns daily. Note reasons for February listing fixes.
4–14 Jan 2027 Peak fees end 14 Jan
- Do not ship clearance at peak rates if it can wait until 15 January.
- Reconcile: fees, promo costs, ad spend, returns. Compare with your November baseline.
- Write down the three things you would do differently. Prime Day 2027 planning starts in February.
If your listings are not ready for the 26 October freeze, that is the one thing worth outside help on. A listing audit before the freeze is far cheaper than fixing a broken title in the middle of Black Friday Week.
Which products peak when during Amazon Q4?
Different categories peak on different days. The table only uses published sources, so it is short on purpose.
| Category | When it peaks | Source | What to do |
|---|---|---|---|
| Household essentials, protein and hydration | Prime Big Deal Days | Numerator, PBDD 2025 top units | Coupons now; keep steady stock all quarter |
| Electronics, toys, beauty | Black Friday Week and Cyber Monday | Amazon, US best-selling categories, BFCM 2024 | Deepest discount in November; arrival by 28 Oct |
| Health, fitness and organisation | 26 Dec to mid-January (gift cards, resolutions) | Recurring seasonal pattern in Adobe holiday reports | Hold stock back; shift ad spend after Christmas |
| Apparel and shoes | Sells in November, returns in January | Category norm; check your own return rate | Size charts and clear photos before the freeze |
Now the question that decides whether the rest of this guide is a plan or a post-mortem.
Are you already late? A five-question check
Answer yes or no. Every "no" has a fix underneath it.
- Are your Black Friday Week deals submitted, or can you still submit them by 20 October? You missed the $50 early discount if you submitted after 5 September, but the window itself is open until 20 October. If no: submit this week. If you have nothing worth a $100 fee, plan coupons instead.
- Will your Black Friday stock arrive by 21 or 28 October?Arrive means checked in, not delivered. If no: send your top three products by air now. Set up merchant fulfilment as a backup for the rest.
- Are your title, bullets and images finished? The freeze is 26 October, and Alexa for Shopping reads what is there. If no: fix the five products that made the most money last Q4. Ignore the rest until January.
- Do you know your December profit per unit with peak fees in it?Not September's number. December's.If no: open the Revenue Calculator, set the date to December, and write the number next to each product.
- Do you have a Christmas cutoff plan? What sells after the FBA cutoff, and can you ship it yourself? If no: list your three fastest-shipping products and decide today whether they go merchant-fulfilled from 20 December.
Two or more "no" answers means you are behind, but not out. Fix them in the order above. The first two are the only ones with hard October dates.
Two or more "no" answers?
You have until 20 October to fix the first one and until 28 October to fix the second. A short review of your calendar, stock plan and promo fees this week costs less than one missed arrival date.
What happens after Christmas: cutoffs, gift cards, returns
Most calendars stop at Cyber Monday. Your money does not.
Christmas delivery cutoffs
Amazon publishes exact order-by dates for standard, Prime and same-day delivery in December each year. The standard cutoff usually falls in the week before Christmas, with faster options running later. Until Amazon posts the 2026 dates, plan a merchant-fulfilled backup for anything a last-minute shopper might want.
Gift-card week
From 26 December, shoppers spend gift cards on themselves. Health, fitness, storage and home-organisation products lift. If you sell any of these, this is the week to hold stock for and to move ad budget into.
Returns run to 31 January
Amazon's 2025 policy let items bought between 1 November and 31 December be returned until 31 January 2026, with Apple products until 15 January. It applied to FBA, merchant-fulfilled and Amazon retail orders. Expect a similar notice for 2026 in October. Practically, that means your Black Friday profit is not final until February, so keep a returns reserve until then.
Do these dates apply to the UK, EU, India and Canada?
No, not all of them. The method is the same everywhere; the dates are not.
- Canada shares the US peak fulfillment fee window of 15 October to 14 January, with an average increase of CAD $0.39 per unit.
- UK and EU stores publish their own deal submission windows and inbound arrival dates in Seller Central under upcoming events. Black Friday and Cyber Monday fall on the same calendar days, but the deadlines in front of them differ.
- India runs its own festive calendar, with the Great Indian Festival usually starting in late September or October, so the peak comes earlier and the deadlines come earlier still.
If you sell in more than one store, keep one calendar per marketplace. Copying the US dates across is one of the most common and most expensive mistakes we see.
How can GrowithAmazon get you ready for peak season?
Peak season is mostly a calendar problem, and calendars are easier to keep when someone else is watching them. As an amazon agency, GrowithAmazon runs peak season as a dated plan for each client, per marketplace.
In practice that means: confirming every date against Amazon's own notices rather than third-party calendars, building your inbound plan backwards from the arrival dates, approving each promotion against December profit per unit, freezing and auditing listings before the October cutoff, setting an ad ceiling for every product, and holding a short weekly review from now until 14 January.
If your listings are the weak point, start with a peak season listing review. If the whole calendar feels like too much, ask for the full plan.
Conclusion
Here is the loop we opened at the start. The date most sellers plan around, Black Friday, is not a deadline. It is a result. The deadlines are 15 October, when fees rise; 20 October, when deals close; and 21 or 28 October, when your stock has to be checked in. Everything that happens on 27 November was decided in those two weeks.
Amazon peak season 2026 has one more thing going for you: Prime Big Deal Days is confirmed, the fees are published, and the arrival dates are fixed. There is nothing left to guess. Run the five-question check today, fix the first "no" this week, and refresh this calendar when Amazon posts the Christmas cutoffs in December.
