Amazon Great Indian Festival 2026: Dates, Deals and a Seller Plan That Still Works If You Start Today
Amazon Great Indian Festival 2026 starts on 8 October, and if you sell on Amazon.in you have less time to get ready than in any recent year. Amazon announced the date on 18 September. That is a 20-day runway, and most of it is already gone.
This page does two things. First, it puts every confirmed fact about the Great Indian Festival sale 2026 in one table, so you stop hunting through news sites. Second, it gives you a plan built for the time you actually have, whether that is five days, or you are reading this on day three of the sale with a budget that ran out by lunch.
Is the scramble worth it? Last year's edition drew 276 crore customer visits, and 70% of them came from tier 2 and tier 3 cities. More than 16,000 small sellers tripled their daily sales in the first 48 hours. Those figures come from Amazon's own press releases, so treat them as the best case, not the average. Even so, there is no bigger month on Amazon.in.
One more thing. A fee change from September quietly changes your deal maths, and most of the guides out there have not noticed it. That is in section 7.
TL;DR
- Amazon Great Indian Festival 2026 starts 8 October 2026 for all customers. Prime early access on 7 October is reported by news outlets, not stated by Amazon. No end date yet; the 2025 edition ran about 30 days.
- Confirmed offers: 10% instant discount on SBI credit cards, debit cards and credit-card EMI; up to 10% extra for Prime members; No Cost EMI and exchange offers.
- Flipkart Big Billion Days opens the same week (early access 8 October, everyone 9 October). Shoppers compare both in one search.
- For sellers: deal windows and FBA cut-off dates live only inside Seller Central. If you missed them, coupons, Prime Exclusive Discounts and tight ad control are still open.
- Order of work when time is short: stock you can actually sell → price and offer → listing fixes on top ASINs → ad budgets and bids → a daily check sheet.
When does Amazon Great Indian Festival 2026 start?
Amazon Great Indian Festival 2026 starts on Thursday, 8 October 2026, for all customers. Amazon.in announced the date on 18 September and confirmed the bank partner two days later. Early Deals are already live on the site. Here is everything Amazon has actually said, with the one widely repeated claim it has not said marked clearly.

What about the great indian festival 2026 end date? Nobody outside Amazon knows it. The 2025 edition opened on 23 September and was described by Amazon as a 30-day event that ran through Diwali. Diwali 2026 falls on 8 November, so a four-week window into early November fits the pattern. That is a pattern, not an announcement. Plan stock for a month, and plan your cash for a month, but do not promise anyone a date.
The press release was written for shoppers. Here is what it means if you are the one selling.
What has Amazon announced for sellers this year?
Sellers call it GIF, and every Amazon GIF 2026 announcement so far has been aimed at customers. Read it again as a seller and most lines turn into a job for your account.
| Amazon said (Sep–Oct 2026) | What it means for you |
|---|---|
| 20 new fulfilment centres, 6 new sort centres, 150 new delivery stations | More FBA capacity in tier 2 and 3 lanes. New centres also mean inbound routing can send your stock somewhere unfamiliar. Check where your shipments were actually received. |
| 160,000+ seasonal roles across 400 cities | Faster last mile, and more hands in returns processing. Expect returns to be graded and restocked faster than last year, for better or worse. |
| Seller base crossed 20 lakh; 3 lakh joined in the past year | More sellers bidding on the same generic keywords. Ad auctions get busier and a sharp listing matters more than a bigger budget. |
| Amazon Now delivery in minutes in 120+ cities | If you sell grocery, personal care or small appliances, speed is now a listing attribute. Ask whether your products are eligible for that selection. |
| Rufus with Hinglish prompts, 30 to 90-day price history and price-target alerts | Shoppers can see your last 90 days of pricing. A "deal" against a price you raised in September is visible to them, and to Amazon. |
| Lens AI, AI Review Highlights, Buying Guides | Your images and your reviews are read by machines and summarised. Image clarity and the words in reviews now shape discovery. |
"This year, customers across Bharat can look forward to the lowest prices of the year on crores of products, blockbuster deals, and exciting new launches."Saurabh Srivastava, VP, Amazon India, 18 September 2026
That sentence is a promise made to shoppers, and your pricing will be judged against it. The amazon festive sale 2026 is also the one month when Amazon publishes seller numbers. Last year it reported the highest-ever number of sellers receiving a sale, record counts of sellers crossing ₹1 lakh in 18 states, and 15 times more Amazon Bazaar sellers crossing ₹1 lakh than the year before. Amazon does not publish averages or medians, so these are peaks. Your job is to be inside the peak, not to assume you will be.
Is it too late if the sale starts in a few days?
No. But the list of things you can still change is short, and the order matters. If you are searching for how to prepare for the Great Indian Festival as a seller with days to go, sort every task into one of three lanes.
Most sellers lose sale week by working on Lane 1 problems they cannot fix any more, while Lane 2 sits untouched. Decide in one sitting which lane each task belongs to, then stop thinking about Lane 1.
"My FBA shipment is still showing in transit and the sale starts Monday."A common seller-forum complaint every festive season, paraphrased
The fix for next time is boring and it works: split every festive shipment across two fulfilment centres and two dispatch dates. One late truck should never be able to empty a hero ASIN. For this week, check which of your ASINs have enough stock to sell for at least ten days at twice their normal rate, and put every rupee of ad money behind those.
Here is my last 30 days of units sold per ASIN and my current FBA available quantity [paste]. For each ASIN, calculate days of cover if daily sales rise to 2.5 times the 30-day average. Flag every ASIN with fewer than 14 days of cover, sort them by revenue, and tell me which ones I should stop advertising this week.Paste into any AI assistant with your own numbers. It does the arithmetic; you decide which ASINs matter most.
How much stock should you send for the festival?
Enough to stay in stock through the peak, plus a buffer for the second wave. That is the whole rule for FBA inventory in the festive season in India. The maths is simple enough to do on paper, and the detailed method is in our peak season 2026 planning guide.
- Pull last year's festival window by ASIN by day. If you are new, use your last 60 days. Find your three biggest days.
- Multiply normal daily units by the lift you saw. No history? Agency guides suggest 1.5 to 2.5 times normal cover on your top 20% of ASINs. That is agency guidance, not an Amazon figure.
- Add a buffer for the second wave. Dhanteras and Diwali are in the first week of November, four weeks after the opening.
- Subtract what is already inbound and what is stuck. Only count stock you can see as available or receiving.
- Decide per ASIN: FBA, Seller Flex, Easy Ship, or "not this time". A product you cannot stock for the full window should not get a deal or a budget.
Here is the arithmetic for a small kitchen brand with three ASINs. Replace every number with your own.
| ASIN | Normal daily units | Last year's peak multiple | Units for 14 sale days + 10-day Diwali wave | FBA available today | Gap |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hero: 3-piece tawa set | 20 | 4× | (20×4×14) + (20×2×10) = 1,520 | 150 | 1,370 |
| Mid: steel lunch box | 8 | 2.5× | (8×2.5×14) + (8×1.5×10) = 400 | 90 | 310 |
| Tail: silicone spatula | 3 | 1.2× | (3×1.2×14) + (3×1×10) = 80 | 40 | 40 |
Notice the second-wave multiple is lower than the opening multiple. That is deliberate. Opening-week demand is driven by deals and bank offers; Diwali-week demand is gifting and replacement, which is steadier and smaller for most categories.
Where the stock sits matters as much as how much. Seventy percent of visits last year came from beyond the metros. If all your FBA stock is in one region, delivery promises to tier 2 pin codes get slower, and the Featured Offer can go to a seller whose stock is closer. Check inventory placement in Seller Central and, if Amazon offers it for your account, distribute across regions.
One sidebar for sellers of very low-priced goods. Amazon Bazaar, Amazon's store for ultra-affordable products, saw twice the seller participation in 2025 and 15 times more sellers crossing ₹1 lakh than the year before, according to Amazon. If you have a sub-₹600 line, ask whether it belongs there.
How do you get into a Great Indian Festival deal?
Through the Deals section of Seller Central, during a window Amazon opens several weeks before the event, and only for ASINs that meet rules Amazon sets by category. That is the honest answer, and it is why most "deal checklists" published this week are already out of date. The shopper names (Blockbuster, Top 100, 8 PM Deals) are Amazon's merchandising labels; what you submit as a seller has different names.
| Seller-side format | Where it shows | What it needs | Still open in sale week? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lightning Deal | Deals page, limited hours | Submission during the window; reference-price rules; a deal fee | Usually closed. Check Recommendations in the Deals dashboard. |
| Deal of the Day / Best Deal | Deals page, a full day or several days | Invitation or submission; stronger sales history | Usually closed |
| Prime Exclusive Discount | Badge on the listing for Prime shoppers | Price and rating conditions set by Amazon | Typically yes, if the ASIN qualifies |
| Coupon | Badge in search and on the listing; stacks with price cuts | A budget per coupon and a redemption fee | Yes |
| Price reduction with strike-through | Listing | Must be real against your recent price history | Yes |
We are not quoting exact discount percentages or fees here on purpose. Amazon publishes those inside Seller Central, they vary by category, and they change. What does not change is the pattern: Amazon checks a deal price against the product's recent price history and can reject or remove it if the reference price looks inflated. In 2026 shoppers can see the same thing, because Rufus on Amazon.in now shows a 30 to 90-day price history. A fake festive discount is no longer a private matter between you and Amazon.
Why was my deal rejected? Three reasons cover most cases:
- The reference price was raised too recently, or is above what the product actually sold for.
- The rating is too low or there are too few reviews for the category.
- Not enough stock was committed to the deal, or the ASIN is not Prime-eligible.
Then there is Flipkart. Shoppers compare Great Indian Festival and Big Billion Days prices in one search, often with both apps open. Either keep identical SKUs at price parity, or decide which platform gets the hero deal and keep the other at normal price with a coupon, so you do not cannibalise your own sale.
If you want someone to check deal maths and ad budgets together before day one, that is a normal part of our Amazon advertising management work during sale weeks.
Deals bring the traffic. Ads decide who pays for it. Section 6 is where most festive margin is won or lost.
Should you raise ad budgets before or during the sale?
Before. Then again on the morning of day one, for the ASINs that are converting. Festive ad budgets on Amazon India fail in one of two ways: the budget runs out by noon on the biggest day, or the ACoS target stays fixed while cost per click doubles, and the campaigns throttle exactly when traffic peaks.
If you are new to sponsored ads, read how the Amazon PPC auction, budgets and placements work first; the mechanics are the same on Amazon.in. The short version for sale week:
- Why before: a campaign that stops at noon stops collecting the data you need to decide tomorrow's bids. New campaigns take a few days to settle. Raising a budget on day one from a starved level does not undo the morning you lost.
- Festive CPC: Amazon publishes no CPC data. Agency guides report clicks at two to three times normal during Indian festive sales. Treat that as an estimate, and plan for it anyway.
- The target that breaks: a fixed ACoS target assumes a fixed CPC. For the sale window, set a TACoS target per ASIN instead (ad spend divided by total sales). It lets you accept a worse ACoS on days when organic sales are also rising. Our ACoS vs TACoS guide explains how to set both.
| Move | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Pull the 60-day search term report; move converters to exact match; add negatives | Now | Cuts waste before every click gets more expensive |
| Raise daily budgets 20–30% on proven campaigns | 5–7 days out, or today | Campaigns exit learning and stop hitting noon cut-offs |
| Put festive and gifting terms (Diwali gift, combo, family pack) in a separate campaign | Now | Seasonal spend you can switch off in November without touching your core campaigns |
| Placement adjustment for top of search on hero ASINs only | Day before | Visibility when every competitor is bidding; limited to products with stock |
| Pause ads on any ASIN under three days of cover | Every day | Ads on an empty shelf burn money and rank |
Sponsored Brands and video. If you have Brand Registry, one Sponsored Brands campaign for your festive range, with video if you have it, is enough. Ad formats and options can differ between Amazon.in and other marketplaces, so check what your Campaign Manager offers rather than copying a US checklist.
"CPC doubled overnight and my campaigns were out of budget by 11 am."Common seller-forum complaint during Indian festive sales, paraphrased
That seller did nothing wrong on the day. The mistake was a week earlier: the budget was sized for a normal Tuesday. Size budgets for the day you expect, then cap the account if you need a hard ceiling.
Here is my search term report for the last 60 days [paste]. Group the terms into three lists: converting at or below my target ACoS of [X]%, converting above target, and spending with no sales after at least 10 clicks. For the third list, write the terms as negative exact keywords I can paste into Campaign Manager. Keep brand names in a separate list so I can review them by hand.Read the third list before pasting. A term with no sales in 60 days can still convert during the festival if it is a gifting term.
Sale week is not the time to learn Campaign Manager
Budgets, bids, negatives and out-of-stock pauses, checked three times a day through the festival, with a plain daily report of what we changed and why.
How do the new fees change your deal maths?
Two changes to Amazon India seller fees landed in the weeks before the festival, and neither appears in the shopper press. According to Amazon India seller-forum notices reported by The Week and Hans India in late August 2026:
- From 17 August 2026, the cancellation fee for Easy Ship and Self Ship orders is calculated as a percentage of the order value, instead of being linked to the category referral fee.
- From 7 September 2026, closing fees rose by ₹1 on items priced up to ₹500 and by ₹3 on items above ₹500, across FBA, Easy Ship and Seller Flex. Amazon cited higher fuel and logistics costs.
Confirm the exact figures for your category in Seller Central; this article does not restate Amazon's fee schedule. The point is what the changes do to a deal price that was set to the rupee in July.
A ₹3 move on a ₹600 item is half a point of margin. On a Lightning Deal at 20% off, with a deal fee and festive-level ad spend on top, half a point can be the gap between break-even and a loss you only notice in the November settlement. The cancellation change cuts the other way: sale-week pickups fail more often, and a fee that scales with order value makes high-ticket Easy Ship orders riskier than last year.
Run this per-unit check on every ASIN you plan to discount. The numbers below are placeholders for an illustrative ₹899 product; the percentages are not Amazon's and must be replaced with your own.
| Line | Illustrative ₹899 product | Where to get your real number |
|---|---|---|
| Deal price | ₹719 (20% off) | Your planned deal or coupon |
| Referral fee | − ₹[category %] | Seller Central fee schedule |
| Closing fee (new rate) | − ₹[rate + ₹3] | Seller Central, by price band and channel |
| FBA or shipping | − ₹[weight band] | Fee preview on the ASIN |
| Deal or coupon cost | − ₹[fee or redemption cost] | Deals dashboard / Coupons |
| Ad cost at target TACoS | − ₹719 × [TACoS %] | Your sale-week TACoS target |
| Returns allowance | − ₹[last year's return rate × cost] | Returns report |
| Cost of goods | − ₹[landed cost] | Your books |
| Net per unit | = ₹[result] | If this is below your floor, the deal is a marketing cost, not a sale |
Our Amazon Q4 profit margin guide walks through the same sheet in more detail, including how returns and ad spend hide inside a good-looking revenue number.
For each ASIN in this sheet [paste], calculate net margin per unit at the planned deal price using these columns: referral fee, closing fee, fulfilment fee, deal or coupon cost, ad cost at my TACoS target of [X]%, returns allowance and cost of goods. List every ASIN where net margin is below [Y]% and suggest the smallest price change that brings it back above the floor.Decide the floor before you run this, not after you see the output.
Great Indian Festival or Big Billion Days: where to push?
If you sell on both, you are running two sales in one week. Flipkart confirmed Big Billion Days 2026 early access for 8 October and public access for 9 October, the day after Amazon opens. The seller-side comparison is short, because most of what gets published about the two events is written for shoppers.
| Factor | Amazon Great Indian Festival 2026 | Flipkart Big Billion Days 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Opens | 8 October (all); Prime early access reported for 7 October | 8 October early access (Plus, Black, Flipkart credit card); 9 October for everyone |
| Bank partner | SBI, 10% instant discount | ICICI and Axis, 10% instant discount |
| Shopper base signal | 70% of 2025 visits from tier 2 and 3 cities (Amazon) | Flipkart reports strong non-metro reach; use its own figures if you cite them |
| Categories usually highlighted in press | Smartphones, electronics, home and kitchen, beauty | Smartphones, large appliances, fashion |
| Fulfilment options | FBA, Seller Flex, Easy Ship, Self Ship | Flipkart fulfilment programmes and seller-fulfilled |
The category rows are press patterns, not published data from either company. Three rules hold up regardless:
- Parity or a different hero. Identical SKUs at the same price, or a different lead product on each platform. Never the same product cheaper on one by accident.
- Stock follows conversion, not headlines. Put your deepest inventory where your own conversion rate was higher last year.
- One launch at a time. Do not launch a new ASIN on both platforms in sale week. You cannot feed two learning phases with one budget and one stock pile.
The rest of this guide stays on Amazon.in.
How do you win tier 2 and tier 3 shoppers?
By being findable, deliverable and believable from Salem, Ranchi or Jalandhar, not just from Bengaluru. Amazon's own 2025 numbers make the case: 70% of visits from beyond the metros, 65% of premium smartphone buyers from tier 2 and 3 cities, and two out of three participating SMB sellers from those cities too.
- Words shoppers use. Amazon's examples for Rufus this year are Hinglish: "Diwali gifting ke liye best electronics deals dikhao". Your bullets do not need Hinglish, but they need the plain words real shoppers type: gift, Diwali, pooja, combo, family pack. Our listing optimisation guide covers how to add them without stuffing.
- The delivery date shown. Open your listing, change the delivery location to three tier 2 pin codes, and read the promise. If it says four to five days while a competitor shows next-day, the Featured Offer and the sale go to them.
- Payment options. Amazon said four out of five purchases in some categories last year were on No Cost EMI, and exchange offers drove premium buying. For higher-priced products, check EMI eligibility in Seller Central rather than assuming it is on.
- What the AI says about you. AI Review Highlights turn a cluster of "packaging damaged" reviews into a bullet every shopper sees. Fix packaging before volume arrives, not after.
- Business buyers. Amazon reported bulk orders through Amazon Business grew 120% year on year in 2025. If your product suits shops or offices, a business price and quantity discount can win festive bulk orders you never see in consumer data.
Rewrite these five bullet points [paste] for a shopper in a tier 2 Indian city buying a Diwali gift. Grade 6 reading level, Indian English, keep every fact and number, remove marketing words, and use the words gift, family and festive once each where they fit naturally. Keep each bullet under 200 characters.Check the output against Amazon's listing rules for your category before you publish.
What should you check every day of the sale?
The same ten things, at the same three times. A written check sheet beats memory on day one, when the app is slow, the phone is ringing and a budget alert arrives mid-sentence.
Morning, before 9 am
- Stock cover per hero ASIN. Days left at yesterday's rate, not at the normal rate.
- Budget used by 9 am against plan. Raise on converters, cut on burners. Do not wait for the out-of-budget email.
- Featured Offer on every festive ASIN. Is a reseller winning it on price or delivery?
- Badges. Open the app as a shopper and confirm deal and coupon badges actually show.
- Account health. Late dispatch, cancellations and A-to-Z claims. One bad day in sale week can cost more than the sale.
Midday: budgets again; pause ads on anything that ran out; answer new customer questions.
Evening: compare prices against Flipkart on shared SKUs; read new reviews; check whether competitors in your category appear in 8 PM Deals; write down tomorrow's changes before you log off.
"Sold out on day two and lost my rank for the rest of the month."Common seller-forum complaint, paraphrased
That is section 4 catching up with you. The fix is in the stock plan, not in the ads.
What should you do the week after the sale ends?
The week after is when the festival either pays off twice or quietly leaks. Six jobs, in order:
- Handle the returns wave early. Amazon added 160,000 seasonal roles, so returns will be graded and restocked faster than before. Check removal orders and unsellable inventory in the first week, not the fourth.
- Keep the new converters, cut the festive-only terms. Pull the sale-window search term report. Gifting terms that worked in October spend on nothing in late November.
- Answer reviews in the first seven days. More orders means more reviews. A fast reply on a negative review during the week shoppers are still reading them is worth more than ten later.
- Stock the Diwali wave now. Diwali is 8 November, four weeks after opening. The second wave is smaller and steadier, and it is where your October rank gets converted into November sales.
- Step prices back up in stages. Shoppers with Rufus price alerts see sudden jumps. Two or three steps over ten days looks like a sale ending; one jump looks like a trick.
- Write the one-page retro. Top three days, top five ASINs, out-of-stock dates, ad spend and CPC by day. That page is next year's section 4, and it is how the Amazon flywheel actually turns for small brands: one well-recorded season feeding the next.
Using this sale-period order report [paste] and advertising report [paste], build a day-by-day table of units, revenue, ad spend, TACoS and out-of-stock events per ASIN. Then write three lessons for next year in plain language, each tied to a specific day and ASIN in the data.Save the output with the date. In August 2027 it will be the most useful document you own.
How can GrowithAmazon help during the festival?
This is for brands on Amazon.in that have the stock and the budget for Amazon Great Indian Festival 2026, but not the hours to manage deals, prices and ads three times a day through a four-week sale.
If you are comparing agencies this week, look for an amazon agency that will show you the daily numbers, not just a monthly summary. We cannot move an FBA cut-off or get a rejected deal approved. We can stop the ad spend from leaking while you fix those, and make sure the ASINs with stock get the money. See how our advertising management works during sale weeks.
Conclusion
Amazon Great Indian Festival 2026 opens on 8 October with a 10% SBI discount, up to 10% extra for Prime members, and no end date yet. Flipkart opens the next day. The runway this year was the shortest in memory, and that changes the job: the sellers who do well will be the ones who choose what not to do.
Stop working on cut-offs you missed. Put stock, price and budget behind the ASINs that can stay in stock. Write your floor price down before the first deal goes live, because the September fee change moved it. Check the same ten things three times a day. Then spend the week after the sale turning October's rank into November's sales.
We will update this page when Amazon announces the end date and publishes the first 48-hour results. If you want help getting through sale week with your margin intact, you know where the section 6 button is.
Frequently asked questions
When does Amazon Great Indian Festival 2026 start and end?
Amazon Great Indian Festival 2026 starts on 8 October 2026 for all customers. Prime early access on 7 October has been reported by news outlets but is not stated in Amazon's own announcement. Amazon has not announced an end date; the 2025 edition ran about 30 days and continued through Diwali.
Can sellers still join Great Indian Festival deals after the sale starts?
Lightning Deal and Deal of the Day windows are set inside Seller Central and usually close before the event. Coupons and Prime Exclusive Discounts can normally be set at any time if the ASIN qualifies. Check the Deals dashboard in your account for what is open to you today.
How much should I increase my Amazon ad budget for the festival?
There is no published rule. Agency guides report festive cost per click at two to three times normal, so a 20 to 30 percent budget increase before the sale, plus daily top-ups on campaigns that are converting, is a common starting point. Set a TACoS target per ASIN for the sale window instead of holding a fixed ACoS.
Is Great Indian Festival or Big Billion Days better for sellers?
Neither is better across the board. Both open in the same week in 2026. Put your deepest stock where your own conversion rate was higher last year, keep identical SKUs at price parity, and do not launch new products on both platforms at the same time.
What new Amazon India fees apply this festive season?
According to Amazon India seller-forum notices reported in August 2026, cancellation fees for Easy Ship and Self Ship are now calculated as a percentage of order value from 17 August 2026, and closing fees rose by ₹1 for items priced up to ₹500 and ₹3 above that from 7 September 2026.
